This family photoshoot in Abergavenny is certainly one to remember! A truly breath taking setting, a genuinely lovely family and a stunning sunset. I don’t think there’s more you could wish for when celebrating your little ones first birthday and your first year of Motherhood. So please let me introduce; Phoebe, Bryony & Ashley as we celebrate their little family at the top of a mountain!
I first met Bryony at a post-natal retreat I had the pleasure of co-hosting as part of ‘The Mamau Collective’. Pheobe was just a few months old, with the sweetest little pout, most pinch-able cheeks and her curious nature was already showing! Almost a year on we found ourselves on the top of the Blorange for a special family photoshoot in Abergavenny.
Your first child turning one is a moment in time like no other. A whole year of nurturing your little one as you discover and get to know this new version of yourself. It feels like it comes around very quickly, so it’s important to take the time to slow down, acknowledge how far you have come, celebrate your little sunshine and honour yourself as a Mother. A family photoshoot in Abergavenny is a stunning way to do this. An hour being held by nature as you mindfully soak up the wonder that is your child.
And it’s safe to say that Phoebe here is certainly wondrous! Her curious and cheeky side shone through in these photos we created of her sitting atop the world in this little woven throne and of course sporting her brilliant glittery birthday crown! These are some of my favourite images from this family photoshoot in Abergavenny, the spotlight on Phoebe.
I think that Bryony had originally planned for this session to be a Motherhood session. Herself and her daughter, cuddled together, creating memories to cherish forever. But when she spoke to her husband, Ashley, he asked to be included. When I tell you that made me SO happy, please know I’m not exaggerating. I often tell Mums to book Motherhood sessions just for themselves and their children, as it’s common for Dads to shy away from the idea. So when I hear about a Dad wanting to actively take part in a family photoshoot, it thrills me.
When Dads give themselves up to the emotion and celebration of their family in these moments it’s simply magic. We get to capture images that tell your whole families story and importantly we have images that show how your relationship has evolved. A deeper love and connection comes from being parents, through supporting one another through all the ups and downs that come, especially in that first year. There’s so much more to this family photoshoot in Abergavenny than simply cute photos.
